Terraprima Blanco is een topwijn uit Penedès
Terraprima Blanco is een moderne, complexe en droge witte wijn, geproduceerd in de bodega van Can Rafols dels Caus. Deze wijn ondergaat een natuurlijke gisting en is daardoor langer houdbaar. Xarel.lo vormt de ruggegraat en frisheid, Malvasia de ronding, terwijl de Macabeo er elegantie en diepte aan geeft. Mooie aroma's van tropisch fruit (abrikoos, perzik, appel), mineralen van het unieke terroir en een fijne, lange afdronk.
Goede combinatie met visgerechten, schaaldieren (met name mosselen), risotto, gewokte groentes en Oosterse gerechten. Mooi op dronk maar kan zich tenminste tot 2025 nog verder ontwikkelen.

2021 was better for whites than for reds, and the 2021 Terraprima Blanco shows it; but it's still very young and suffering a bit from the recent bottling. It's a blend of Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Moscatel de Frontignan with 12.6% alcohol and a pH of 3.12. Owner Carlos Esteva told me he has always liked austere wines, and this is austere and mineral, with contained ripeness, mixing fruit with stones, no oak and a tasty, dry finish. Give it a few months. 25,000 bottles. It was bottled in April 2022.
After many years, I finally visited Can Ràfols dels Caus again. They are one of the main names of the Massis del Garraf zone of Penedès, where they have 85 hectares of vineyard inside a large estate. They have a new range of sparkling wines and two new wines from a mountain, Montombra, which they share with Mas Candí. The second generation is getting on board now.
