Sabinares El Confin is een topwijn uit Arlanza

De 'el Confin' van Bodegas Sabinares rijpt 14 maanden op Frans eikenhout is en een complexe, evenwichtige rode wijn. De aroma's doen denken aan rijp rood en zwart fruit, drop, cederhout, kruiden en mineralen. De wijn heeft mooie, rijpe tannines en een klein bittertje in de afdronk. 

Goed in combinatie met rood vlees, lam en stoofschotels. Serveren op 18°C.

"The two reds are similar field-blends from old vines, as is the case of the 2011 El Confin, mostly Tempranillo with some Mencía, Garnacha and other unidentified red grapes. Here the bunches are selected from the right bank of the river where the calcium carbonate (limestone) is more abundant, and there's also more clay and a stony topsoil where the bunches seem to ripen more. And that's exactly what I found: slightly riper fruit leaning towards the black rather than red spectrum, and more influence from the élevage; it spent 14 months in French oak barrels (two barrels to be precise). The combination of riper fruit and more oak made the wine more mainstream and somehow backward. The palate also shows more of the oak with very spicy flavors and a slightly bitter finish. 798 bottles produced."
