"Secastilla is pure old-vine Garnacha from the Secastilla valley where the vineyards are planted on stony slopes at over 700 meters altitude, from which the wine borrows its name. The wine went through malolactic fermentation in brand new French oak barrels where it matured for a further ten months. The wine is marked by the toast aromas, notes of smoke, spices and some ripe fruit, some banana-like notes and fruits like plum and black cherries with a lactic hint. The palate is medium-bodied, with moderate acidity and abundant, grainy tannins that end up being slightly dry. What I saw in the vineyards -- old vine, head-pruned, dry-farmed Garnacha at high altitude on chalky, gravel soils -"
